Hi! 

I’m Jocelyn, a photographer, conceptual creative, gallery visiting art lover, and lifetime learner.

From a young age I knew I needed to be involved in the arts. I first discovered drawing and painting— which caused me to love every art class I was in and encouraged me to participate in every art competition or event that I could. Then the first time I looked through the viewfinder of a camera, and learned that you could freeze any moment in time with just a click of the button, was when I found my passion for photography.

As my curiosity grew, I sought out new experiences to get me familiar with the different aspects of the creative industry. Then, once I picked up more jobs, learned more about the arts, and listened to the complaints of other artists, I realized that what I needed to study was how to make art a successful career for myself. I didn’t want to believe the “starving artist” was the only way. So I pursued an Arts Management degree with a concentration in Creative Industries at Columbia College Chicago. I learned so much there and found myself passionate about the idea of helping other artists. I became more and more drawn to the behind the scenes aspect of the art world, and learned that I really just want to help creatives feel secure, understood, and not taken advantage of by people who do not have their best interests in mind or have no real interest in art. There need to be more creative people in places like business and law to bridge the gap and make some real changes. As an artist myself, I want to be that person for others.  

 

I’m currently planning to continue my education by pursing a law degree to be able to help artists firsthand.
